Mr. Mark Collins
Hancock Turfgrass Research Center
Mark Collins has been the farm manager of the Hancock Turfgrass Research Center since 1983. Mark has overseen the expansion of the original 10 acre facility to the more than 55 acres that it is today. He is actively involved with the teaching and research efforts of the MSU Turf Team, including teaching irrigation and reel grinding and facilitating the Turfgrass Management laboratories. The HTRC has twice been host to the Turfgrass Producers International Conference and Field Days under Mark's tenure (most recently in 2009). The maintenance team at the turf center is responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the center, including maintaining over 1,200 irrigation heads, bi-weekly topdressing, renovation and establishment, and hosting various green industry meetings. Mark's leadership and experience were demonstrated in logistical coordination and grow-in of Spartan Stadium field.
