Ron Calhoun is a native of Michigan and has an undergraduate degree in landscape design and a master's degree in turfgrass management from Michigan State University. Ron has worked in the green industry since the mid-80's with jobs in the athletic field, property maintenance, arboretum, greenhouse, and golf course segments.

His responsibilities at MSU include teaching, research, and extension in the turfgrass management program with an emphasis on weed ecology and management and plant growth regulator use. Mr. Calhoun coordinates the Michigan Turfgrass Environmental Stewardship Program, which helps golf course properties and other turfgrass operations comply with federal and state regulations. He also maintains several web sites for the MSU Turf Team including MSUturfweeds.net and GDDtracker.net. He is an avid photographer and frequent speaker at state and regional turfgrass conferences. He teaches three GCSAA seminars and has been a member since 1992.
